Hello fams.
How do you feel when there is power failure for 76 hours, Or maybe all light went off for that period. Oh well maybe you always love the day better than night. and you don't always love it when the sun sets. Do you even know about a land where the sun does not set.
what about me explaining that in this post?
where do you think the place would be?
England ?
Norway ?
Nigeria ?
Finland ?
Iceland ?
or where else.
you may probably have guessed well
For good 76 hours during the Summer the sun does not set which makes people in that part of the world experience day throughout that period. Wow 76 hours is a lot. more than three days. Maybe you had loved to visit there for holidays. I think that's not our business here. So where is this place. Have you heard of that county called the land of the Midnight sun? You must be pretty good in geography. Norway was never named just to impress anyone It was named because of its location at the arctic circle where the sun never sets during periods ranging from may to July.
So why does this happens. Why would the sun just decide not to set. Do they offend some sought of gods? This is the main reason why ScienceCuriosityJournals is here, to unravel the reasons behind phenomenons.
The rotation of the earth is not totally vertical it is somehow tilted around its north axis relative to the sun. whenever we are in summer our planet's north pole is actually at an angle facing the sun. Therefore the places in this north areas will see the sun for a long period. The fact that the sun does not set will make them be in day time for that period. The length of this period depends on the location of a place on the earth. So a place that is most in the north will experience longer day than a place a little bit far from the north pole. for example there are other countries that experience longer day but its not as much as the one experienced in Norway. these countries include Finland where quarter of the country experience mid day sun for almost 72 hours. In fact a place in Norway called Svalbard experience daylight for the longest period of many months.
hmm!
Maybe you love to visit the place. or you even want to live there so you can have more time to play, visit friends and do other daily activities for that 76 hours.
What if night never comes for ever. would you love it that way. you would work both day and night, you would need no electricity to light up at night. This would reduce cost of living. Mind you there are other disadvantages of lack of night. you would work yourself up. You may likely not be able to sleep due to day light. A lot may actually happen if there was no night for ever.
I am sure you enjoyed today's section. But Is there anywhere on earth that does not experience day. whoops. If yes. Where is it? Why doesn't it experience daylight? And what are the advantages. I think that would be a topic for discussion in subsequent posts.
